Donating is very important and while £10,000 sounds like a lot, the torc will cost £150,000 to buy and the museum service has no budget for acquisitions.
Grants and donations are what will keep it in Leicestershire. We managed to keep the Hallaton Treasure going to the British Museum and in the district where it was found, so I'm hopeful we can do the same for the torc.
